The Secret to Success
Ever wonder why some habitually succeed and others habitually fail? It’s not fate, luck or circumstances! I believe strongly that is 1 thing more than anything else. When polled by the Cox Business Survey, 87% of the Fortune 500 CEO’s agreed that the thing that effected their achievement more than anything else was “an Optimum Attitude.” The ancient writers agreed. Hermes wrote “As within, so without.” Marcus Aurelius wrote, “Our lives are what our thoughts make of them.” And the father of Modern Psychology, Dr. William James said, “The greatest discovery of my generation is that men can alter their lives by altering their way of thinking.” Earl Nightingale launched the self-help audio industry with his talk “The Strangest Secret,” which concluded “We become what we think about.” (Proverbs !) My recently Dr. Charles Stanley quipped, “It’s not you aptitude, but your attitude that determines your altitude.” Your attitude includes your Direction, Your Motivation, Your Confidence and Your Expectations, all with a bias toward positive or negative consequences, and almost always operates at a semi-conscious level of attention. To make it work for you, you need to raise it to the conscious level and take control to direct it toward your desired ends. As a Latin sage once wrote, “You will either be the Master of your thoughts, or you will be their Slave.”
